Day 1: Arrival to Hungary (received by bus at Budapest Ferihegy Airport
if arriving by air or meet at the nearest town to the border, like Györ, Debrecen or
Szeged if arriving by road-bus). Lunch in a typical Hungarian restaurant, Budapest
orientation tour, Dinner with folklore programme, Accommodation in Budapest
Day 2: Visit to a modern Holstein AI Station (30 km
from Budapest), Visit the Brunsvick Castle, Martonvasar, Lunch in a local restaurant,
Visit to Mezofalva Agricultural Corp., Hereford Beef cattle herd, and Adony Ag
Co-operative Angus Beef Cattle herd. Dinner in countryside fish restaurant on the Danube,
accomodation in Siofok (85 km), at the Southern side of Lake Balaton
Day 3: Travel to Enying (30 km). Visit to Enying Agricultural farm
Holstein Friesian dairy farm (large-scale dairy farming), lunch in countryside, return to
Siofok, and make a leasure boat trip on Lake Balaton, including wine tasting in Badacsony
(Northern part of the Lake). Return to Siofok, dinner, free evening promenade, stay in the
same hotel.
Day 4: Travel to Kaposvar (80 km). Visit to Kaposvar (South-West
Hungary), stop over at the Ainmal Husbandry Faculty of Kaposvar University, visit farm
research facilities, horse breeding school, private Hereford Beef cattle farm and Holstein
Friesian dairy farms. Meet with the President (or representative) of the Hungarian
Hereford Association. County lunch. On the afternoon, enjoying famous thermal spa at Igal,
near Kaposvar (25 km). Travel to Budapest (160 km). Dinner and accommodation in Budapest.
Day 5: Visit to the Hungarian Puszta: Hortobagy (150 km), which is part
of the UNESCO World Heritage with its untouched landscape, gene reserve of native
Hungarian animal species and breeds, like Hungarian Grey cattle, Racka sheep, Puli
sheepdogs, various kind of waterfowls, visit the Shepherd Museum, lunch at the Hortobagy
Csarda (a famous restaurant of country food), introduction of a Noniusz horse farm. return
to Budapest. Dinner and accommodation in Budapest (or dinner with wine tasting at
Gyöngyös, on the way back to Budapest).
Day 6: Morning brief sightseeing in Budapest. Breefing at the Farmers'
Association, and at the Association of Hungarian Animal Breeders, Association of Hungarian
cattle Breeders. Lunch. On the afternoon, visit to Gödöllö: Szent Istvan (St.Stephan)
University - Gödöllö Agricultural University, Farm Machinery Museum or Gödöllö
Cattle AI Station or a Farm-scale Milk Processing Plant at Vacszentlaszlo (near Godollo)
and/or Royal Castle in Gödöllö. Dinner and accommodation in Budapest.
Day 7: Morning shopping in downtown - free program. Afternoon: Visit to
the beautiful Danube Bend, including lunch in a Visegrad hill restaurant. Walk in
Szentendre, the touristic culture and gallery town on the Danube or visit the village
museum at Szentendre. Farewell dinner and accommodation in Budapest.
